Lannion Walk, Tuesday 2 October, 2pm

Next Tuesday we are in Lannion. The afternoon walk starts at 2pm from the parking by the campsite on the Léguer river. From the centre of Lannion, follow the Guingamp road (north bank of river) for 650m to the traffic lights by Lecelerc supermarket. Here turn right (filter lane) and continue ahead on small road down to camp site - car-park is on right just after.

This is an easy walk mostly on well-made tracks and quiet roads, with great river and valley views. One section in a stream valley may be muddy after wet weather, but the going is generally good. Level 2, Medium.

Option in the morning: meet at 11.30 for a quick look at highlights of Lannion centre and then have lunch somewhere - good choice of eateries. Meeting point - north side of river by children's roundabout in elaborate kiosk (by river bridge opposite huge former monastery building). There is a car-park on the spot.

History course reminder

September 20th is the deadline for discount on booking for the History of Brittany Made Simple course in Huelgoat. The first session on October 15 (2-4.30pm) is an overview of Breton history from megaliths to modern, so it could be taken as a stand-alone unit. The following three sessions (Oct 22, 29, Nov 5) look in more detail at important people, places, events.
We aim to have fun as well as learn on these courses, and plenty of material and method is provided to help remember key points. Details are on www.brittanywalks.com (heritage courses) - link opposite.

Mouldy finger and a severed head ...

We had a great day in the Trégor with a mysterious underground spring, sinister snakes and various miraculous severed limbs. Lunch wasn't bad either, and we strolled it off around the majestic Pointe de Primel. That's (some of) us up by the custom officers' hut among some very big rocks.
