Fabulous walk on the high hills this week with everyone enjoying the sunshine and great views. Well done to all for their stamina and good humour. Highlight of the day, however, was Roger's arrival in fine style.
We have a walk starting from the ancient abbey of Relec (between Plouneour Menez and Cloitre St-Thegonnec, access off main Carhaix/Morlaix road or Poullaouen/Morlaix route) at 2pm. This is a long walk up onto the heights of the Monts d'Arrée, with quite a few steep sections. If there is rain before, the going will be very muddy in places. On the other hand it is one of my top favourite walks in Brittany, and highly recommended for superb views and moorland landscape.
We enjoyed a really fine walk in the sunshine at St-Goazec, with a large crowd positively up for the challenge of fallen trees, wading along streams and ploughing through thick mud. The visit to the brocante was a popular addition. Thanks to all who came and made it a great outing. Special thanks to Dave for the photo. Next walk is on the 16th at Le Relec (between Huelgoat and Morlaix), a Level 3 route, 10kms.
Brittany Walks has been based in Brittany, France since 2004. The regular programme of walks ended in 2015, but there are still occasional guided visits to places of interest to discover the landscape and history of the region. English is the language for events. See www.brittanywalks.com (link below) for details. The Brittany Walks website is full of information about walking in Brittany.
